Photo History
Here I have tried to give a kind of photo History of the Firebird Trans Am from 1967 to 1982. I will try to highlight some of the major changes to the cars as the years progress. This way, by looking at these pages and maybe some of the other pages on my site, you will be able to see a Trans Am on the street and have a good guess as to which year car it is. Now of course everything isn't listed here, but if you browse throughout my site you will see some of the other changes made to the Firebird Trans Am as is progresses through time.
1967
The vents in the side of the car were for 1967 and 1968 only.
1968
1969
Notice the headlight and front grille change. This was also the first year for the Trans Am shown below.
1970
There was a big body style change from 1969 to 1970.
1971
1972
This was the last year for the functional hood scoop.
1973
1973 was the first year of the "Screamin' Chicken" Hood Bird.
1974
Notice the changes again in the front nose and the rear tail lights.
1975
1976
First year for the "Special Edition" cars. Also the first year that Factory T-tops were an option.
1977
They changed in 1977 to the "batmobile" front end, but tail lights stayed the same.
1978
First year of the WS6 option with the 15x8 inch "snowflakes".
Also the first year of the Gold "Special Edition" Trans Am.
1979
Once again, in 1979 they changed the front nose piece and the tail lights shown below.
This was also the year for the "10th Anniversary" Trans Am.
1980
This was the year for the "Turbo Trans Am Daytona Pace Car".
And there were still "Special Editions".
1981
